later bought. The Centennial Biographical History of Hancock Co., O., 1903, p. 128, states he came to Ohio
seven years before his son Benjamin, Jr., was born.

Notes for SAMUEL KISTLER:
I (Mrs. Sprague) was seven years old when grandfather died, so can remember little of him save that he was a
large man, talked a little broken and always had his buggy loaded with good things for us children when he came
to Lancaster, He was well dressed with a bearing of importance suggestive of a well-to-do person. He directed
and managed his business but kept hired help to do the work connected with his farms, livestock, and mills. His
gristmill was at Carroll and his sawmill was located about one mile N.W. of there.
Grandmother was of Irish descent. She was quick of movemnet, ready of speech, and in her younger days was
expert at spinning. She was very religious and both were members of the Lutheran Church. She was killed by the
accidental discharge of a gun.

Among their descendants were an unusual number of beautiful women. A number of family reunions have been
held at Carroll.
