The Botts family can trace their ancestors back to the ancient territories
of Germany and Poland
between the 11th and 12th centuries.
The Botts family traces their ancestral roots back to Prussian origin,
and first appeared in ancient medieval records in East Prussia.
That from very early on the Botts family not only held lands
and estates in Germany and Poland
but were also actively allied with other influential families.
They also branched out into other territories and holdings,
before taking the long voyage to the new world.
The Shield: Gold with a black cauldren.
The Crest: Five ostrich feathers.

Edna (Botts) Cudmore for providing the following information. |
Descendants of John Richard Bott(s)
It seems that the name is English, German
or
Russian but my Bott(s) spoke French as it
was his mother tongue but then he was
supposed to be from the Channel Islands, which
kept switching hands back and
forth from England to France. He was
also an English Magistrate and a teacher
both in the old country and here on Prince
Edward Island. It seems from my
observance on the list inquiries that John,
Richard and Thomas seem to be the
most common first names for Bott(s).
It seems like the Pennsylvania area
has a
lot of Botts families. There are very
few Bott(s) families in Canada but a lot
of Butt(s) in Newfoundland. We also
think they may once have been originally
Bott as well from my Channel Island information.
